Flash-free, net-shapes to the tightest tolerances
Advances in faster cycling, multi-slide hot-chamber zinc die casting have established this technology as the process of choice for complex miniature precision components. While high-precision miniature die casting is similar to hot-chamber die casting of much larger parts, it is capable of holding tighter tolerances, often with zero draft, to net-shapes as-cast— at much faster cycle times. Such parts are being routinely cast with walls as thin as 0.020 in. (0.50 mm) and tolerances as tight as +/-0.001 in. (0.03 mm).
Enhanced quality, low unit costs, low die investment
Part quality is enhanced by reduced shrinkage and the elimination
of post-casting operations. Automated production can
deliver unit costs down to pennies per piece, at extremely low die investment. And CWM will guarantee your miniature zinc and ZA-8 die casting dies for the
life of your project.
Any post-casting operation, to your exact specs
Most 4-slide parts can be cast to net shape. When post-casting machining of miniature parts is required, and/or any surface finishing, these operations are not a special order at CWM; they are routine. Your parts will be delivered to your exact final specifications, ready for further assembly. (See CWM CNC Machining and Surface Finishing services.)
Chicago White Metal offers OEMs the benefits of advanced 4-slide die casting production processing in part weights from fractions of an ounce to as much as 3/4 lbs., in sizes from minuscule to 4 x 4 x 1 in. (See sample parts, above). These parts can be cast in a complete range of zinc alloys (Zamak 2, 3, 5 and 7) plus ZA-8 zinc-aluminum.
