Corporate Overview (Continued)

First Thin-Wall Zinc, Then Net-Shape Aluminum
From its early beginnings as a custom die caster of recyclable alloys, Chicago White Metal became an early adopter of thin-wall zinc hot-chamber die casting technology for complex, lighter-weight, lower-cost Zn parts. With the addition of cold-chamber aluminum die casting, CWM soon integrated succesive porosity-reduction techniques into Al production. Today CWM is leveraging the processing predictability of the Magmasoft® die casting software simulation system to optimize net-shape Al components.

Pioneer in Hot-Chamber Magnesium
Committed to driving innovation and further capitalizing on the inherent cost efficiencies and part-reduction advantages of die casting, CWM became a pioneer in hot-chamber magnesium die casting. The company was the first North American custom die caster to begin operation in this advanced, faster-cycling process. Its magnesium experience has set the standard for close-toleranced, thin-wall, net- and near-net shape Mg housings.

CWM operates the largest custom hot-chamber Mg department in North America, including two of among the world’s largest hot-chamber machines.

From DFM Assistance to Complete Product Assembly
All die casting projects now offer OEMs design-for-manufacturing CAD assistance; FDM prototypes prior to tooling design; tooling options that include CWM-approved offshore tooling sources; advanced process-controlled production; post-casting machining; surface finishing and complete product assembly.

In-House CNC Machining and Contract Manufacturing
CWM operates its own advanced CNC Machining division for CNC prototyping and post-casting operations, as well as volume CNC production. Its Contract Manufacturing division provides turnkey responsibility for complete mechanical and electromechanical product enclosure production, including stock part procurement and custom production of components in processes other than die casting.

Excellence is Expected
With the management systems of CWM and its divisions ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001 certified, CWM strives to meet the complete range of its OEM customers' needs at the highest level. Throughout CWM, excellence is expected.
