Quotation Request Guidelines
Quotations for custom tooling and production of die cast or CNC machined components can be provided by your answers to some basic specification questions plus supplying the proper design files, as listed on this page.
Three online Quotation Request E-Forms are available in the column at right for:
1. Custom Die Casting for larger parts in the most widely-used alloys in Aluminum, Magnesium and Zinc (3D CAD files required plus 2D Drawing files).
2. Custom Miniature 4-Slide Die Casting in Zinc and ZA-8 (3D CAD files required plus 2D Drawing files).
3. CNC Prototyping or CNC Volume Production Machining (including Screw Machining) in all materials including plastic (2D Drawing files required).
Quotations for comprehensive contract manufacturing and assembly projects usually proceed with an initial consultation with a Contract Manufacturing division sales-engineer representative or with CWM-CM (see bottom, right).
For a New Die Cast Part
If a prototype already exists, supplying it can assure the most efficient, accurate quotation.
For a Redesign from an Earlier Die Casting
Whenever possible, supply the previous cast part.
For a Redesign as a Die Casting from Another Process
Whenever possible, supply the previous non-die cast part.
For an Existing Die Casting
Previous useable tooling, obviously, can eliminate a substantial investment.
3D CAD Design File Submission for Die Casting
For Die Casting quotations, we can evaluate your submitted 3D CAD files in virtually any format. Preferred 3D CAD file formats, which can be submitted by Quotation Request E-Form attachment, are the following:

IGES Surface Files (*.igs; *.iges)
STEP AP203/214 Files (*.step; *.stp)
Solidworks Part Files (*.prt; *.sldprt)
STL Files (*.stl)
2D Drawing File Submission for Die Casting or Machining
For all Die Casting quotations, and for CNC Machining-only quotations, we require a 2D Drawing file. Preferred 2D file formats are shown below, and can be submitted by Quotation Request E-Form attachment:

IGES Files (*.igs; *.iges)
Solidworks Drawing Files (*.drw; *.slddrw)
(For Machining quotations only, we can also accept PDF file versions of your 2D Drawing files.)
If you have questions regarding other 3D or 2D file formats, call or Email the CWM Sales Dept.
File Size Note: If your combined 3D and 2D file sizes approach 25 MB, please phone the CWM Sales Dept. (Tel: 630-595-4424) before preparing your RFQ and forwarding files. FTP file transfer is available for larger files and for file security (see below).
Secure File Submission
If you require secure FTP 3D CAD and/or 2D Drawing file transfer to CWM, or your combined design files approach 40 MB, you can set up a CWM secured FTP Site access account (Click Here for details in the next section).
